Unit 2. Sentence (2)

 

Five types of sentences (according to the function):

 

1. Declarative Sentence

You are a good student.

He didn't go to school yesterday.

 

2. Interrogative Sentence

Are you a teacher ?

What is that ?

Is that a pen or a pencil ?

Who doesn't like peace ? ( = Everyone likes peace. )

That is a good book, isn't that ?

 

3. Imperative Sentence

Be a good girl !

Teach me this lesson, please.

 

4. Exclamatory Sentence

How clever the boy is !

How well she sings !

How erect a tree it is !

What a good husband you have !

What beautiful pencils she has !

 

5. Optative Sentence

God bless your family !

May you have a nice day !
