Unit 3. Sentence (3)

 

Four types of sentences (according to the structure):

 

1. Simple Sentence

 

The boy in the house is smart.
simple subjecthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsimple verb

 

My sister and I played and studied together yesterday.
fffffcompound subjectmmmmmmmmcompound verb

 

2. Compound Sentence

 

Good students study hard, and bad students play all the day.

 

The man earns a lot of money, for he works very hard everyday.

 

3. Complex Sentence

 

A. Main Clause + Noun Clause

 

She bought what she wanted to buy.

B. Main Clause + Adjective Clause

 

The house where they live is very beautiful.
compound subjecjjjjjjhhhadjective clause

 

C. Main Clause + Adverbial Clause

 

He had been sad since he failed in his business.
adjective clauskkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkadverbial clause

 

4. Compound-Complex Sentence

 

A. Compound Sentence + Simple Sentence

 

If you tell anyone I make this mistake, and I will hate you.

 

B. Compound Sentence + Compound Sentence

 

I know that he is a very good student, but I don't know that he studies so hard.
